Marco's Home Stories: The Buyer Who Was "Just Looking"

This week’s story is about a buyer who reminded me that sometimes, the best moves start when you’re not really planning one.

A few weeks ago, I got a message from someone who said, “Hey Marco, I’m not ready to buy yet, but I’ve been scrolling through listings and I’m just curious what’s out there.”

That’s how a lot of my favorite client relationships begin. Not with pressure or urgency, but with curiosity.

We decided to talk about what “just looking” really meant. Turns out, they’d been renting for years, saving slowly, but weren’t sure how to even begin the process. They didn’t know if their credit was good enough, if their income qualified, or if they were “ready enough” to start.

So, instead of rushing, we took things one step at a time. I connected them with one of my trusted lenders to run some numbers. They were surprised to find out they were much closer to being ready than they thought. From there, we started viewing a few homes ... no pressure, no timelines, just getting a feel for the market and what their money could get them.

And somewhere along the way, something shifted.

That “just looking” energy turned into excitement. They started picturing themselves in certain spaces, where the couch would go, how the sunlight hit the kitchen in the morning, how they could see friends hanging out in the backyard. You could literally see it click.

Now, they are 100% into a home search, strategizing, sharing properties with each other and myself, coming up with more ideas and narrowing down their search. They are ready to make an offer and get into a home as soon as they find "the one".

Moments like that never get old.

The whole experience was a reminder that so many people stop themselves before they start. Not because they don’t want to buy, but because they assume they’re not ready. The truth is, most people just need a guide to walk them through the process, answer their questions, and show them what’s possible.
